Let's Unpack That
Those in the know understand that the post-event debrief can be just as fun as the event itself.
“You won what? Where did you get that free product? Who did you see where? How much was that discount?”
The details get rehashed, favourites confirmed, and a night out takes on a second life in hindsight. So, from what pulled you in, to the perks on offer and the party that was had, this our James St Up Late debrief for 2026.
The Pull
While some came to shop, some to sip, others just to soak it all up, the night had a pull that didn’t play favourites.
The EAU BAGS Market Run turned a simple ring toss into a prize-winning pursuit, while Allpress kept gave us all a caffeine buzz with complimentary affogatos in collaboration with Rosé Gelato.
Around the corner, Mud Australia and Fountainhead Winehouse paired up for a fine wine takeover; while Gerard’s gave great hair with St Louis Says blessing heavenly energy into their laneway with fare and follicular freebies.
Elsewhere, Calexico marked the official launch of designer Raquel Diniz paired with Cru Bar; and live illustrations by local artist Holly Neilson, aka Paperhands, at Kave Home offered something to take home that wasn’t just in a bag.
The Perks
Call it a purchase with power as the rewards were built in for those inclined to browse with intent.
From 20% storewide at Alpha60, Bailey Nelson, Bec + Bridge, Museum of Small Things, Nudie Jeans and St Barts, to gift vouchers up for grabs at Camargue, Dinosaur Designs and SIR., the night made a strong case for staying out just that little bit longer.
Plus, many went home with more than they paid for thanks to gifts with purchase from Aje, Assembly Label, CAMILLA, Husk, July, Lee Mathews, MECCA Cosmetica, Mister Zimi, Natasha Schweitzer, P. Johnson and St. Agni, and in-store competitions at Calexico Man, Living Edge, lululemon and Venroy.
And then, of course, there were the Party Bags.
1,000 in total, each with a RRP over $600, plus more than $15,000 worth of Golden Bag prizes hidden in one in twenty bags – secured by those first to spend $50. A solid return, in anyone’s books.
The Party
If the pull and the perks brought people in, the party kept them here.
Giant golden globes marked out the party zone and cast all in a soft and above all flattering glow. At Penelope, DJ Niesh set the tone early with her tunes making street swing from one end to the other.
The Tipple Tour provided progressive cocktail and mocktail circuit for one night only with custom pours by Cru Bar, ēmmē, Gemelli, Lobby Bar and LOS, ensuring a drink was never far from hand.
With an estimated 10,000 people taking to the street from 5pm till late, the energy was high and for the first time in a while, the rain held off, making Up Late 2026 a busy, buzzy and fine affair.
