TWFINEART are pleased to present ‘ERASE & REFRESH’ by Michael Weißköppel, which will be showing at the gallery from Thursday 18 November to Sunday 25 December.

Weißköppel’s latest body of work showcases his practice, combining the mediums of photography and painting to create hyper-realistic spaces. As the title alludes, through the act of ‘erasing’ part of the composition, Weißköppel creates images that challenge perceptions of reality. In this way, his images are refreshed, and reintroduce our imaginations to painterly possibilities.

His loose painting style works to develop a filter, which reveals how painting and photography alike distort our understandings of vision, as it does the world depicted in these images.

The ‘white-out’, erased forms define shape, break up the image and absorb it into the overall composition construction.  As such these works respond to the idea of a landscape scene – interjecting practices developed through the rise of digitalisation, of the ability to erase and delete, with the traditions of landscape painting.

‘ERASE & REFRESH’ reveals Weißköppel’s ability to capture the sense of the digital word in his body of painting work, presenting a fresh interpretation on recognisable imagery.
