RESORT — James Street’s innovative event series returns from Thursday 10 to Saturday 12 October

RESORT has set a standard over the past five years – an original event with a global outlook that blurs the boundaries between business, fashion, lifestyle, design, art through intelligent discourse and of course, fun intriguing events. RESORT is a celebration of our location in sub-tropical Queensland and our community – our place in the world, not separate from it, but our unique corner of it and how we can expand and advance it for the benefit of all.

RESORT 2019 will see an Australian first, with special guest Sinéad Burke, global inclusivity activist, disability advocate, educator and academic, joining the event to explore the urban consciousness of our community. Sinéad will focus the conversation on business and community and highlight why inclusivity, acceptance and empowerment should be key objectives across all spheres and inform how design and industry can better consider and respond to the individual. Sinéad will initiate the dialogue with a private Round Table discussion on Thursday 10 October with community leaders. This closed discussion will inform and deliver tangible solutions for our community via her public forum and luncheon on Friday 11 October with WISH magazine’s David Meagher at The Calile Hotel.

The community are then invited to a street-wide celebration on Friday 11 October – RESORT After Dark presented by Vogue Australia, encourages the public to take advantage of late-night trade with unique precinct-wide in-store experiences and offers until 8PM. Vogue Australia Editor-in-Chief Edwina McCann will be present on the evening with a number of the magazine’s key editors to meet attendees in the street and in to host the dedicated Vogue VIP Lounge.

Joining the Vogue Australia team for After Dark will be an inspired line-up of national and local designers including Lara Fells of newly opened St. Agni, Mary Lou Ryan and Deborah Sams of bassike, Adrian Norris of Aje, the duo behind El Zapato Emily Paul and Leticia Gaskall at M.O.S.T, the Head Designer of Kowtow at Camargue – alongside local favourites Angelique Andronis of By Baby, Natasha and Alex Chipman of Natasha Schweitzer and RESORT 2019 campaign stylist Gail Sorronda of her namesake label.

The event will conclude on Saturday 12 October with a fashionable bang in the form of RESORT Trailblazers presented by Vogue Australia with Sinéad Burke and James St designers.
