PERIMETER Books + LOVEWANT | James St Book Shop
Art on James

October 2, 2025
Ephemeral Ephemera
We love a bit of analogue media here on James St. We think that books, magazines and printed matter matters. Words before algos. Books before code. Mags before machines.
Fortunately for us, and you, two Australian print icons, Perimeter Books and LOVEWANT magazine will bring a moment of print immersion to James St via a collaborative temporary book shop featuring creative, clever and charming printed things from 24–26 October.
Perimeter Books is without doubt Australia’s leading specialised creative bookstore. Dan Rule, Co-founder of this award-winning publisher and distribution house will bring a select range of independently published books, editions and zines spanning photography, art, theory, text design and architecture to our sunny little pocket. All must-have items will be available to pour over and purchase on James St.
LOVEWANT is pure creative vision in printed form. Editor in Chief, co-founder photographer, visual artist, film director, creative director, magazine editor and journalist Bartolomeo Celestino broke the fashion-magazine-mould with LOVEWANT, co-creating a highly collectable magazine that is more art-book than periodical. This quarterly art, photography and fashion mag will bring archival issues of LOVEWANT to the James St pop-up – dense, sexy tomes to be thumbed, read and enjoyed.
In addition to the pop-up store and bibliomania on offer, Dan and Bart will come together for an intimate and relaxed conversation in the shop on Saturday 25 October at 2pm. Creative leaders, champions of print and longtime collaborators and friends, Dan and Bart will discuss philosophies of independent publishing, the importance of creative collaboration and the significance of the photobook as an artistic medium. Reserve a spot to join the friendly chat here.
If you too find words and images sexier than ones and zeros, be sure to drop in to the Perimeter Books + LOVEWANT James St Book Shop, presented as part of Art on James.
Find us in good company, between P. Johnson and Le Labo at 14/65 James St from 24–26 October.
James St Book Shop open: Fri 24 – Sat 25 Oct, 10AM–4PM; Sun 26 Oct, 10AM - 1PM
