James St Journal June

Fashionable conversations
The latest edition of The Calile Hotel’s Calile Culture event series will be a fashionable affair with a discussion about Iris van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses prior to the exhibition opening at QAGOMA. Many powerful women have been seen strutting Van Herpen’s artful designs including Queen Bey, Cate Blanchett, Lady Gaga and stars on the Met Gala red carpet, talk about bragging rights! Find out more here.

After dark dining
Newcomer to the James St dining scene, ēmmē, (pronounced EM) opened their doors in May serving breakfast and lunch within the James St Market. After growing a successful following of fans, they are showing diners their dark side and now open for dinner Wednesday to Saturday from 5pm. Enjoy woodfired Middle Eastern dishes after the sun sets.

Paddock-to-plate
Gerard’s are collaborating with The Falls Farm for a unique paddock-to-plate event on Wednesday 19 June. How can you say no to a five-course farm fresh delight that incorporates sustainably sourced produce with Levantine and Middle Eastern flavour. Get the delicious details here.

Newcomer
Gerries is the newest watering hole to open in the district, find them in the familiar leafy spot that Gerard’s Bar previously occupied. Cocktails, snacks and good times are their specialty, and did we mention they serve $2 oysters Monday to Friday 4–6pm.

‘Quaso’ fit for a Queen
The culinary queen aka Nigella Lawson has been searching high and low for the ‘best ever croissants’ and you’ll be pleased to hear you can find them on our street. Lobby Bar have taken out the title serving up crispy, buttery goodness courtesy of Hotel Head Pastry Chef Julianna Butteri. Don’t just take Nigella’s word for it, secure one for yourself.

Feeling fresh
Renovations at Natasha Schweitzer are now complete which means you can get back to shopping their finery in boutique. Nothing beats the sparkle of a diamond IRL, so step into the bright and artfully designed store to shop all the Australian made jewellery.

Stay local
When Euro Summer is off the cards opt for a stay-cay instead. Sage Hotel have had a revamp and are ready to show you the snazzy new upgrades. Talk about an ideal location to stay when hitting the shopping and dining. P.S. They are dog friendly, so save the dog sitter and bring your furry best friend with you.
