A Feast for Fathers
Dads don’t always get to be the centre of attention so when they do have a day dedicated entirely to themselves, it’s only fair that you pull out all the stops. Handwritten cards, presents, a bottle of booze if they’re so inclined, and most importantly, a feast fit for a king. Whilst you’ll have to look after the other things, read on to see how the James St community is taking care the food portion of your celebrations on Sunday 7 September.
ESSA
Sunday School at ESSA will look a little different come the 7th with a special Father’s Day edition taking over this weekly family-style tradition. You can expect a beer on arrival for the big man, steaks grilled over the open fire, truffles for a bit of added luxury, and chips on the menu for probably the only day of the year. Plus find limited edition add-ons for even more ESSA-style eccentricity. Caviar bump anyone?

The Green
Take dad on a culinary cruise through Lebanon with The Green’s Father’s Day Feast. Choose between house-marinated chicken or lamb or go the whole hog and opt for the spiced full-blood stone axe marbled wagyu, with all three getting the same charcoal-roasted treatment. Choice of meat regardless, you’ll also be treated to burnt honey saganaki, malfouf salad, homemade pita, spiced French fries, a pickle plate, plus a Lebanese beer for dad!

Jocelyn’s Provisions
Wracking your brains for what to feed dad this Father’s Day? Debating over sweet vs savoury? Conundrums like these aren’t a thing when Jocelyn’s Provisions come to the table. Highlights include the Dad Hamper – featuring Giant Choc Chip Cookie, savoury Rosemary & Sea Salt Sables, Dad Bark, Giant Anzac Biscuit, Strazburgers and Coconut Cookies – salted caramel and chocolate tarts, family sized pies in lamb & rosemary, beef & red wine, or chicken and mushroom, and plenty of mini quiche and savoury tart varieties to keep any snack-happy man satisfied.
Gelato Messina
It’s not a stretch to say that most dads are partial to both a sweet treat and a tipple or two here and there – so why not kill two birds with one stone thanks to Gelato Messina’s Daddy Chill. Combining a rum and raisin custard gelato with buttery chunks of shortcrust, this limited-edition flavour will only be on offer for a single week. Wander over to the Ada Lane location post on street meal or pick up a pint for an at home sugar hit.
