Greek hospitality is a deep-seated cultural duty, a sacred ritual. A divine law protected by Zeus, with Greek hosts sharing the best food and treating all guests like family. It may seem like myth, but the duty runs deep, and remains true at Hellenika, with the shared enjoyment of food, connection and generosity central to the experience.

That generosity has now been extended, with owner Simon Gloftis launching his first book, Hellenika. A generous guide to simple, fresh and comforting dishes, Hellenika is an extensive collection of 110 approachable Greek recipes – a physical celebration of the much-loved restaurant, the food and the stories behind the people who made it what it is today.

To celebrate the launch, The Calile Hotel will host an intimate lunch at Hellenika on Thursday 15 October as part of the Calile Culture series. Gloftis will be joined in conversation by Culinary Editor of the Australian Financial Review Jill Dupleix, to explore the rich history of Hellenika, and Gloftis’ passion for food, unrelenting drive to deliver a paramount service and hospitality and how to translate a much-loved restaurant into a book.
