The Finishing Touches To-Do List
In the wise words of rapper Suga Free: ‘if you stay ready, you ain't got to get ready’. But don’t worry, there’s no need for elaborate grooming routines and endless outfit options because getting (and staying!) ready for James St Food + Wine Trail is far less daunting than it may sound. Follow these six simple steps to put the cherry on top of your ice cream Sunday this 27th of July.
1. Gather Your Gang
Life is more fun when you do it with the ones you love so gather a group of your friends, family, and anyone in between, and hit the street for some serious foodie festivities. JSFWT is very much a ‘the more, the merrier’ kind of day so let us know you’re coming and invite as many of your nearest dearest all in one place here.
4. Experience Art on James
The sensory delights continue with the return of Art on James – only this time it’s for your ears! Listen up as ecological sound artist, performer and composer, Vanessa Tomlinson, demonstrates the raw power and meditative resonance of the tam-tam with three live performances interspersed throughout the day’s festivities. You’ll have to keep an ear out because this mesmerising musical moment will be here one minute, gong the next.
2. Pick Up a Program
You wouldn’t head into a hike blind, and while it’s more tasty than treacherous, this Trail is no exception. Our culinary compendium maps out the entire event as well as detailing the delicious dishes on offer so keep you and your stomach on the right track and pick up your own JSFWT program from any participating restaurant, bar or café.
5. Get Crafty
No plotting and scheming here, just some good old-fashioned colouring in fun at the JSFWT Kids Zone. It’s a total win-win as you get to wine and dine whilst your littles ones play chef for the day as they add their own seasoning to this year’s adorable food-themed campaign mascots.
3. Slice Sashimi with Sushi Room
A feast for your eyes and your tastebuds, enjoy the ultimate epicurean entertainment that is Sushi Room’s tuna filleting demonstration. Watch in awe as master fishmonger Mitsu Sakurai of ZERO-ICHI transforms whole tunas into delicate sashimi before your very eyes. It’s part show, part spectacle, and entirely worth gathering around for — especially if you manage to nab a sample. Find the action at the Sushi Room marquee in Doggett Lane at 10AM + 2PM.
6. Keep the Party Going
If you find yourself channelling Rihanna and saying ‘please don’t stop the music’ when the day is done, then you’re in luck because Gerries, LOS, The Nixon Room, Penelope, and Sixes and Sevens are here to keep the post-JSFWT vibes high. Whether it’s an intimate winddown or big old boogie that you’re chasing, these groovy guys and gals have got your Afters covered.
No one likes being out of the loop, so stay up to date by RSVP-ing here.
