Family dinners are the perfect setting for trying new recipes and creating memories.
Join head chef of Gerard’s Bistro Ben Williamson, on Monday 9 April as he honours his family’s traditions with a dinner entitled The Family Table.
The Family Table is a five-course dinner paired with five matched wines from Brown Brothers’ new release Patricia collection named after Brown Brothers’ family matriarch Patricia Brown.
The dinner revisits food of Ben’s childhood growing up near the beach in Perth’s northern suburbs. The five-course feast will open with canapés including a crab sandwich, devon and tomato sauce sandwich and “Granny Marg’s” chicken soup and will be complemented by the Brown Brothers’ Patricia 2011 Pinot Noir and Chardonnay
This will be followed by his mum’s classic weeknight staples of corned beef and a signature lamb roast with overcooked greens. Keeping with Gerard’s signature Middle-Eastern techniques, the overcooked greens are slowly braised with onions and served alongside the berry-spice of Brown Brothers Patricia 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon.
The “abalone schnitty” is a twist on the barbeque abalone Ben use to source with his friends. The abalone is served alongside beach succulents and a dressing made from roasted fish bones and squid trimmings. It will be paired with the Brown Brothers’ Patricia 2015 Chardonnay, to refresh the palate after the meal.
To finish, Ben will present his take on the classic after-school treat of Milo and Ice Magic, paired with Brown Brothers’ Patricia Noble Riesling.
The Family Table by Broadsheet Brisbane and Brown Brothers’ Patricia range at Gerard’s Bistro is set to take place on Monday 9 April at 7PM. At $90 per person, diners will savour a five-course dinner with five matched wines.
Spaces will fill up quickly, so book your family a table here.
