James St Journal October

The month of October on our street welcomes sweet smells, sweeter collabs, fresh tastes, art with heart, sparkling trends and a cheeky discounted stay to seal the deal. There’s plenty to choose from so find out all that’s in store below.

Follow Your Nose:

Have you ever marvelled at a perfume’s ability to seamlessly blend citrus with musk? Or why it smells warm and sweet at first but settles into a more clean, herbaceous scent post-wear? Get an insider’s look at the world of niche fragrances with Libertine Parfumerie’s Xerjoff Discovery Masterclass. Uncover the stories and craftsmanship behind the Italian fragrance house renowned for its luxurious, naturally derived scents alongside complimentary nibbles on Wednesday 10 October from 6PM. Tickets are $69 and can be purchased online here.

Stylish Sundaes:

Pros at keeping us on our toes, Gelato Messina have joined forces once again with the playful glassware giants Maison Balzac, to bring you a limited-edition gelato coupe. Inspired by French trompe l’oeil serveware of the 1980s, the bowl of the coupe sits pretty atop a hand-blown glass fan wafer that looks good enough to eat itself. Create a sundae worthy of this crystalline coupe with Gelato Messina’s celebratory launch flavour, Le Mystère, a French vanilla gelato with candied hazelnuts and baked meringue in honour of founder Elise Pioch Balzac’s favourite childhood French dessert. And because you’re already on sundae train, top off your creation with Jocelyn’s Provisions’ brownie bites now available with caramel sauce!

Molto Buono:

Mosconi is proving that its cool, calm and collected status is perennial with the launch of their new spring menu. From aperitivo and antipasti through to dolce and digestivo, the menu has been given a seasonal refresh. Refer to the Moreton Bay bug risotto, potato gnocchi with eggplant and salted sheep’s ricotta, and of course the tiramisu because what Italian meal is complete without some form of sugar and espresso. Mosconi is now open for all day dining from 12pm on Saturdays so see you there.

An Ode to Ireland:

The summer sun creating a delicate dance of shadows, bumble bees, tranquil afternoons flavoured with marmalade sandwiches and high tea gatherings. It is these memories made at her grandparents’ home in Ireland that Melbourne/Naarm artist, Ali McNabney-Stevens, evokes in her solo exhibition ‘No.54: A Miscellany’ on show at Studio Gallery. A deeply personal and heartfelt tribute to the beauty of simpler times, McNabney-Stevens offers viewers a reprise from the complexities of modern life, inviting them to embrace simplicity and nostalgia. Showing until Friday 11 October, catch the exhibition 7 days a week at Studio Gallery.

Flashy Footwear:

Metallics are having a moment to shine right now. Forget metal-heads, we’re talking metal-feet. Boasting four flat and four heeled options, all in silver leather, Bared Footwear is the one stop shop for those looking for options. Not quite ready to step into a full metallic foot? Camargue’s new range of Golden Goose sneakers provide a subtle glimmer to add just enough twinkle to your toes.
