James St Journal August

August may be handing out some wet, wet weather but there’s plenty happening on James St to brighten your day and put a pep in your step. Much like the sunshine, you’ll have to be quick to catch it because some of these happenings are here for a good time not a long time. Read on to find out what’s going on in our neck of the woods.

Silk Laundry x Lawn Bowls
Founder Katie Kolodinski started Silk Laundry in 2015 not only with the aim of creating high-quality, long-lasting clothing but also with a great emphasis on sustainability and consumer consciousness. Housed right here on James St, Silk Laundry Brisbane are turning rhetoric into reality with their in-store community building events. Aimed at bringing people together through art, education and of course fashion, their newest is event will showcase the bright and whimsical works of local glasswork artist Lawn Bowls aka Finn O’Sullivan. From funky faced plates to delicate floral spoons, Lawn Bowls glasswork explores the elevation of our domestic spaces through decorative objects. Swing by the store on Saturday 17 August from 9am for a morning of colour and community, complete with a live in-store glass demonstration from Finn herself.

District mainstay Cru Bar is back and better than ever following the completion of their much anticipated renovations!
